The Randall Session
The Randall Session is Back!
The Board had to make some difficult and crucial financial decisions in May of last year that led to canceling the Randall Session for the 2010 conference program in Philadelphia. But with careful planning, some luck and a slight upturn in the economy, we are happy to announce that the Randall is “back”.
Thursday evening, April 1, 8:30 - 9:30
This year we will have an evening of Light Opera and Classic Broadway put on by Philadelphia’s own, prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA). The resident artist’ for the evening’s performance are third and first year resident: Corinne Winters and Sean Arnold under the direction of José Meléndez, AVA’s Music Director. This will be the perfect time to hear the next great opera singers of tomorrow, today!
Corinne Winters, soprano Sean Arnold, tenor
José Meléndez has been an active pianist, coach, accompanist, and conductor in opera, recitals, and concert work in the United States, South America, Central America, Asia, and Puerto Rico. As recitalist, José Meléndez has worked as part of a double piano team with Akiko Hosaki in a series in Japan, New Jersey, and Minnesota, under the tutelage of Margo Garret. Mr. Meléndez also continues an eight-year collaboration with soprano Maya Hoover in recitals of all Latin American music throughout the United States and abroad.
Each conference I attend mobilizes, inspires, and stimulates me to play in clay. I love the people. It's one of the few places I feel I belong. I feel at home at each conference. Keep up the good work.
