Jim Romberg is a Professor Emeritus from Southern Oregon University where he headed the Ceramics Department for nineteen years. He is currently living in Abiquiu, New Mexico where he maintains his studio and is program director for the Eagleheart Center for Art and Inquiry. Jim has a BA in Ancient and Medieval History from Pomona College, graduate studies at Union Theological Seminary (New York City) and the Sorbonne (Paris). A studio assistant at Pottery Northwest (Seattle) for two years Jim returned to the Claremont Graduate University to work with Paul Soldner and receive his MFA in Ceramics in 1972 . One year teaching assignments at Texas Tech University and the Anderson Ranch in Aspen, Colorado led to his taking over the ceramics program at the Sun Valley Center for Arts and Humanities (Sun Valley, Idaho) which he developed into an internationally recognized ceramics program and was artist in residence there for twelve years before joining the faculty at Southern Oregon University.

Jim has had exhibitions of his work and given workshops throughout the United States, France and Switzerland. Also concerned with criticism in contemporary ceramics Jim has had articles published recently in Ceramics Art and Perception, Ceramics Monthly and Studio Potter. Most recently he was the curator for a traveling international exhibition of raku ceramics entitled: Raku: Origins, Impact and Contemporary Expression.
