International Programs

One of the many ways that NCECA supports its members is by providing opportunities to engage in international programs. This cultural exchange of ideas is critical to growth as an artist and as a culture. NCECA began this initiative a few years ago and already has participated in programs in Korea, China and Norway, to name a few. We send exhibits to other countries, fund residencies, and recommend artists to workshop opportunities. This area will continue to grow as we tap into the many ceramic arts organizations and museums that have like-minded goals.

The purpose of NCECA is to promote and improve the ceramic arts through education, research and creative practice. One way in which we strive to fulfill this purpose is to support, foster and nurture international programs, including international residencies, conferences and exhibitions. This is an exciting time for NCECA. We are working to position ourselves to be able to maximize the many opportunities that are presenting themselves due to the generosity and vision of our members, supporters and the NCECA Board of Directors. And we are looking for ways in which we can involve our members in international events. We look forward to NCECA's continued involvement on a global level.

The information below lists the programs currently registered with NCECA. Please contact Kate Vorhaus at the NCECA office (kate at nceca.net) to make any corrections or submit updates.  Links to participating residencies are also listed below.  We will be updating this area with more information as we work on our website redesign.

3RD WORLD CERAMIC BIENNALE 2005, KOREA (CEBIKO)

The World Ceramic Exposition Foundation (WOCEF) will hold The 3rd World Ceramic Biennale 2005 Korea (CEBIKO) under the theme “Ceramics: The Vehicle for Culture” from April 23 to July 19, 2005. It will be held at the Icheon World Ceramic Center in Icheon, Korea with additional ceramics festivals in the towns of Gwangju and Yeoju, Korea.

This year’s theme recognizes the significant impact each culture has on ceramics. Increased access to artists’ work on an international level provides new opportunities, insight and inspiration. These unique influences will be examined to discover where artists find their ideas and how trends develop and transform from one culture to another.

For further information about this dynamic and exciting celebration, including the entry information for the International Competition Exhibition, click here or on the WOCEF logo above.
