2008 Invitational Exhibition

NCECA sponsored the 2008 NCECA Invitational Exhibition at the Society for Contemporary Craft located at 2100 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh.

The 2008 theme, VOICES focused on the narrative thread in contemporary ceramics. Storytelling and the oral tradition have a long and rooted history in the arts. The 2008 Invitational Exhibition represented the work of ceramic artists who express themselves in a narrative form through the creation of vessels, sculptures and installation artwork.   Stories evolving from mythology, personal relationships, political commentary in the intimate and social realm, gender, identity and family will all be considered.

The show contained work that was either juried or invited in. A color catalogue accompanied the show containing artists' biographies and essays on their artwork. Link here to purchase the 2008 "Voices" Invitational Catalogue
