Clay National Biennial Exhibition

Held in odd-numbered years, the NCECA Clay National Biennial Exhibition is the premier juried exhibition.  Entered works must have been completed within the last 2 years. The exhibition is juried from digital images by three prominent professionals in the field. Entry fee is $15 for Members, $30 Non-Members.  Please note: Artists must be at least 18 years of age and all artists from outside the U.S. (including Canada) must be current NCECA members to enter. Merit and purchase awards totaling approximately $5,000 are determined by the jurors.  NCECA produces a color catalog featuring work by all participating artists.

The Arizona State University Art Museum, Ceramics Research Center will host the 2009 NCECA Clay National Biennial Exhibition from March 22 – May 30, 2009.  This exhibition will be held in conjunction with the annual NCECA Conference in Phoenix, AZ April 8 – 11, 2009.

ELIGIBILITY:  Artists must be at least 18 years of age and all artists from outside the U.S. (including Canada) must be current NCECA members to enter.   Entered works must have been completed within the last 2 years.
MEDIA:  CeramicMixed Media will be accepted only when clay is the dominant material.  Final determinations will be made by the jurors.

NUMBER OF WORKS:  Two works may be submitted with two (2) views allowed per entry. All entries must be submitted electronically using digital images.
ENTRY PROCEDURES: All applicants will enter submissions on-line electronically Juried Art Services. On-line submissions begin May 1, 2008 and end August 30, 2008 with an extension and late fees until September 6, 2008.   

LIMITATIONS:  All work will be given due consideration.  The gallery directors and the curator reserve the right to reject work that the gallery is unable to physically accommodate or which differs from the submitted slide.  No substitutions will be allowed.  Work may not exceed 60” in any dimension and wall-mounted pieces are limited to 50 lbs.

CATALOG:  A catalog of the exhibited work will be published.  Artists will be required to provide a professional quality image of each accepted entry.
PHOTOGRAPHY:  Participating artists must agree to allow NCECA and gallery visitors to photograph work while on display for educational and publicity purposes.  Images of accepted works will be retained by NCECA for catalog production, posting on the NCECA website and for the possible production and sale of a CD documenting the exhibition.

INSURANCE AND SALES:  Works will be insured by the Arizona State University Art Museum, Ceramic Research Center while on display.  The Museum will facilitate sales between the artist and buyer, but will retain 0% commission on any resulting sales.

NOTIFICATION: Applicants will be notified by e-mail, ONLY.

SHIPPING:  The artist is responsible for insured shipping to the gallery.  NCECA will be responsible for insured return shipping support up to $100.  All accepted entries must be sent double boxed in sturdy, re-usable packaging.
