ITINERARY:
Here’s an opportunity to visit Fallingwater and Kentuckknob, two of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most beloved and visited homes in one tour.
Fallingwater - Wright was 68 years old when this house was designed in 1935 for Edgar J. Kaufamann and his family from Pittsburgh. Fallingwater was a Kaufmann family residence from 1939, when construction was completed, until 1963 when it was given to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. In 1991, the American Institute of Architects voted Fallingwater as “the best all-time work of American architecture.” Fallingwater is the only great Wright house open to the public with its setting plus the original furnishings designed by Wright intact. Art work collected by the Kaufmanns is also displayed in Fallingwater. Included are works by Audubon, Tiffany, Diego Rivera and Picasso. There will be time to visit the Fallingwater gift shop either before or after the tour.
Enjoy a box lunch while traveling between Fallingwater and Kentuckknob.
Kentuckknob - In 1953 Wright designed this home for I. N. and Bernardine Hagan. In 1986 the Hagans sold the home to Lord Peter Palumbo of London, England, who opened the house and grounds to the public in 1996. There will be time to visit Kentuckknob’s gift shop.
